THE MORE YOU SEEK, THE MORE YOU LOSE

do you ever understand
why we've been running all around
and there's been violence and aggression
to your love and to your atmosphere?

I thought that everything was right,
I thought you couldn't undermine it
telling me there can't be oestrogen
in water if it's clear

do you want to find a reason,
do you commonly believe them
would you rather write a statement on
oppression or the facts you hear?

well there's no real understanding
but I'm trying just to handle
all the issues that were thrown to me
from my position here

when you seek you will not find it,
that's the riddle they provide us
to direct us through this desert land
and if the answer was much clearer
we'd probably be aware of every grain
within the timing sand

life's a theatrical dream,
based on a comical theme
a total illusion, a mass of confusion
the more we seek, the more we lose
within the running sands and this divided truth
what can we hope to find within a learned mind
what is the cornerstone of every man's incline
what does this mean to you
what in this world is true?

tell me who is jesus christ
has he got meaning in your life
or is he just a puppeteer whose face
keeps turning up each coming year

now isn't he a texan who holds
shoot-outs from a mansion
and is promising eternal life
to everyone who's there?

is there more on your reflection
are you finding new direction
if you hold it to the light do you
believe that it will disappear?
well the answer is quite simple,
I am purely a disciple
of the coming of the future and the
certainty that nothing's…. clear
