1. WHAT'S GOING ON?
--------------------------------
You'd be forgiven for wondering whether or not anything is happening in the Land of Marq but the fact is, we have been pretty occupied with a number of activities both in and out of the band over the last twelve months or so. However, the new album is definitely still on the way, despite a few delays beyond our control. So with apologies for the absence of the newsletter, below is a brief(ish) summary of updates including the new album and an update on Tracy's health issues.

2. NEW ALBUM UPDATE
-------------------------------
Well, there's light at the end of the tunnel - and it's not an approaching train!
Over the last few months we have been able to get into the recording studio to lay down specific final parts for the new album and then get down to the serious fun of mixing. This is being undertaken equally by sound engineer Steve Rispin and our own keyboardist Mike Varty. This is likely to take slightly longer than we'd like as Dave and Mike, in particular, have a number of other commitments to honour (see below).
We have also employed the artistic talents of graphic artist and designer Alan Winterflood to take care of the new album cover artwork. This is something the band are extremely excited about and what we've seen so far from Alan can only be described as superb. Other bands and artists may want to make a note of Alan's website!

3. TRACY HITCHINGS UPDATE
--------------------------------
Following the announcement in Landmarq e-News #90, Tracy continues to battle her ongoing Cancer and thankfully things are good at the present time. In fact, if recent vocal performances in the studio -- for the forthcoming Landmarq album -- are anything to go by, Tracy is definitely on form. Tracy has also had a major hand in the vocal arrangements and harmonies on many of the albums songs and has shown how creative she can be off-stage as well as on-stage.
Just a reminder too that Tracy now has an official MySpace so if you're not already a 'friend', head over to:

4. DAVE WAGSTAFFE UPDATE
--------------------------------
Earlier in the year, Dave was busy in his other role as drummer for Oliver Wakeman and following this was also asked to step in as drummer for Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash for a couple of shows during the Summer. This has now lead to his being invited to join MTWA as their full time drummer with immediate effect. Dave will of course still also be in Landmarq. See the MTWA website for more info and tour dates.

5. MIKE VARTY UPDATE
--------------------------------
Mike has also been very busy with his 'other' band Credo, who have just finished a bit of a packed year of gigs playing the likes of RoSFest in America, ProgFarm in Holland, DVD recording in Poland, as well as many gigs around the UK with bands such as Ritual, Mangrove, Paradise 9 and others. The forthcoming live DVD from Poland was filmed in the Wyspiaski Theatre, Katowice, which Mike should be more than a little familiar with! The DVD is due for release early next year, available in all good record stores (or rather, from your prog rock stockist!)... Mike's other activities include playing keys for the 'Script for a Jesters Tour' band who are on tour from January 16th starting with a few UK dates and then onto Europe. Finally, that old band 'Shadowland' has come out of retirement, and that brings Mike back to the keys with Clive Nolan and Karl Groom for a series of live dates in 2009. Shadowland will be releasing a brand new song and a best of CD titled 'Matter Of Perspective'. Strangely enough, Shadowland are also recording a DVD in the Wyspiaski Theatre... 6. STEVE GEE UPDATE
--------------------------------
Steve was invited to play bass for the first live performance of the album 'All Of The Above' by guitarist/producer Tony Lowe. The line-up also included the album's principal female vocalist, Alison Fleming, who especially flew over from her home in the USA for the gig in London which also raised money for the charity Action Aid campaign against poverty. Among other things, Steve will also begin working in 2009 on new recordings with singer-songwriter Jeanette Murphy.

7. UWE DROSE UPDATE
--------------------------------
Last, but by no means least, guitarist Uwe has been busy with other activities over the last year, outside of Landmarq, but along with the rest of the band he is very much looking forward to the release of the new album and getting out and playing more live shows in 2009. As with other band members, Uwe can also be found on MySpace.

8. SEASONS GREETS
--------------------------------
Finally, Landmarq send very best wishes for a happy, peaceful (and of course musical!) Christmas & New Year and thank fans, friends and family for all your past and future support. Hope we see you somewhere in 2009.
--------------------------------
Cheers for now,
L A N D M A R Q
