The Next Album
Work has already begun on material for the next Landmarq album. As yet untitled, there are a couple of ideas in the pipeline along with about ten possible numbers at the present time. Of course, this could change from week to week but it looks as if recording could start this Summer with hopefully an early Autumn release. More details when things have been further arranged.
Welcome to Hans van der Leden
First of all we have to say a big hello and thank you to Hans van der Leden for stepping in to look after the Landmarq website still hosted by our friends, the Dutch Progressive Rock Page - (it's a dirty job, but….!!!). Seriously, though, Hans is helping redesign the site with the guidance (and more likely the hindrance) of Steve "never quite got the hang of HTML" Gee.
Marillion Fan-day
Tivoli Theatre, Utrecht, NL
September 5
th 1998
This was a great gig for Landmarq, who played to around 12-1300 Marillion fans, many of which went away as Landmarq fans also. With Tracy now firmly established on lead vocals, the band even had a large majority of the audience singing along with the likes of "Summer Madness". Of course, the die-hard Prog fans wanted to hear the more epic Landmarq songs and were not disappointed, also being treated to a 15-minute-plus instrumental medley of earlier band favourites.
Rotherham Rocks '98
Oakwood Centre, Rotherham, UK
September 26
th 1998

Landmarq's return to Rotherham and the Classic Rock Society's annual "Rotherham Rocks" festival was also a great opportunity to show the folks back home that 'there's still life in the old dog". Along with Jadis, Tristan Park (from the USA), Darius (from Germany) plus one or two technical hitches, the band were well-received by the small but ever-faithful Rotherham crowd. This was proved later in the year when Tracy Hitchings received the 'Best Female Vocal' position in the CRS annual awards.
'IO Pages' ProgHeaven
Neiuwe Pul, Uden, NL
November 21
st 1998

This particular venue is almost like a second home to Landmarq and the band had a great reception from the Dutch crowd who had been treated to some excellent Prog music from bands that included Aqualung and Nightwatch. Due to some quite tragic circumstances, Everon were unable to appear.
Another excellent gig, though, with the fans going away very happy.
The Arsenaal
Kortrijk, Belgium
November 22
nd 1998
This venue was actually an old disused fire-station, complete with huge red doors at the front. It had bags of atmosphere and - dare we say - the gig was red-hot! (groan). Although another fairly small audience in this case, those that were there seemed to have a great time and, as was the case at the other gigs, there were plenty of people at the end who were waiting to chat with the band and purchase CDs.
Thanks must go to Rene, Arie, Jan and Jan & Marco for their help and involvement with these gigs.
Gigs in Holland & Belgium
By now, the gigs Landmarq played in 1998 (few as they were) will be fading into memory. But it's quality, not quantity, that counts - right? Still, it's hoped there will be still more gigs to come in '99.
Anyway, for all those who made it either to Utrecht or Uden in Holland and Kortrijk in Belgium, we hope you had as good a time as the band did and we certainly look forward to seeing you again soon.
Gigs for '99
It is hoped Landmarq will be coming back over to Europe around April time for some live dates though nothing as yet has been finalised. Again - watch this space! One date that has been set is Friday 5th March 1999 when Landmarq play at The Hermit Club, Brentwood, Essex, UK. This venue is almost on the bands doorstep and they are looking forward to playing to friends and family that may not have seen the band as much in recent years.
