Borderlines
The Landmarq On-line Newsletter

January/February 2000

Welcome...

Hopefully, by the time you read this, most signs of any Y2K/Millennium Bug problems will have been pretty well exterminated. Mind you, as we write this, there is still February 29th to get past... and then there's always next Christmas... not to mention next New Year (the real start of the century!)... and of course the next Millennium party (er...yeah!).
Suffice to say, in this first 'Borderlines' of 2000, we hope that you all had the best time in your respective New year celebrations - wild, peaceful or otherwise.

We'd also like to say welcome to new subscribers to the
LENL newsletter and indeed to new fans and friends who have 'found' Landmarq in the last twelve months.

Meantime, we intend to just get through this year to start with and we certainly hope to be out there more, treading the boards, with some live gigs (see below). Also look out for part 2 of the live album set. We still have the likes of 'Lighthouse', 'Heritage' and the 'Instrumental Medley', among others, to unleash.

Competition Results...

Here are the names of the ten winners in our competition to win a signed copy of the live CD 'Thunderstruck'. (The closing date was extended to January 31st 2000).

'QuestionMarQ' Results So Far…

In case you missed the email newsletter, here are some initial results/responses from the Landmarq questionnaire. We thank those who have submitted responses so far. If nothing else, they prove that Landmarq's fans are as diverse in their likes and dislikes as we try to make the songs themselves.

FAVOURITE SONG: "Lighthouse" (though "Solitary Witness" is running a close second). Others mentioned were: "Ta Jiang", "Forever Young", "Vision Pit", "More Flames For The Dancer", "Summer Madness".

LEAST FAVOURITE SONG: Not too many responses here, happy to say. But mention was made of "Gaia's Waltz", "Game Over", "Embrace", "Hanblechia" and "Borders".

FAVOURITE GIG: Among those who have had the pleasure of seeing Landmarq 'in the flesh', favourite concerts ranged from one of the most recent (Paulusfeesten festival, Belgium, 1999) to one from the early days (Zoetemeer, Holland, 1993). 'Rotherham Rocks 98', UK, got a number of mentions as did the Tivoli gig with Marillion (Utrecht, Holland, 1998).

CD'S: "Science Of Coincidence" had by far the most votes in the 'excellent' category. Next was the first album "Solitary Witness". The CDs "Infinity Parade" and "The Vision Pit" were nearly equal in their excellent 'category' though these did have a couple in the 'fair' and 'good' categories also.

COMMENTS were varied and generally very positive and encouraging.
We particularly liked one from our old mate 'Moon' who, regarding Tracy, said: "...the best man for the job was definitely a woman...!"
Thanks again to all those who have taken part so far.

 Tour News...

We are currently negotiating with a number of organizers to put together some concert dates for this year. As yet, there's nothing definite (is there ever...?) but offers are on the table from gigs/festivals in Sweden, Italy and the USA for the Summer and the Autumn. Of course, the plan is also to try to cover more local territory and gigs will hopefully be forthcoming within the UK, Holland, Belgium and other parts of Europe. We will keep you informed via this website and the LENL email newsletter.

First Two CDs To Be Re-issued...

If all things go to plan, we should also be on course, later in the year, to finally re-issue the first two Landmarq albums, 'Solitary Witness' and 'Infinity Parade'. The CDs will undergo some re-packaging and be released on Synergy Records. This has come about due to the regular number of enquiries that have been received from people from all over, asking where these early albums can be obtained. Dave wagstaff, who runs Landmarq's Synergy label, said "the intention was always there to put these two albums out again, though we had to be sure there was at least a minimal demand for them. That would certainly seem to be the case now and we feel the time is now right to begin the process".
No other details are available at the moment but this is definitely one to watch.

Other News...

'Tracy's Page', the new section of the website, will be ready in the next few weeks and will be dedicated to all things Tracy. It will feature lots of photos of Ms. T., a 'Diary' page, a 'True Stories' section and various other goodies relating to her life both on and off the stage. It will be written and supervised by the lady herself and Tracy says she will welcome any comments, suggestions, compliments (maybe even the odd critique...!) and general communications from any one who cares to send them.

Question: What do The Simpsons and Landmarq have in common?
Answer: They both celebrate their tenth anniversary this year.

Just thought you'd like to know.
We're also thinking of something to commemorate the fact, too.

For those of you within easy reach of central London, by the time you read this, we should have stocks of the last three CDs back in Tower Records, Piccadilly Circus, London (+44 020 8439 2500).
